China's food and drug watchdog has blacklisted ten websites for publicizing false information on medical devices. The State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) said in a statement that the websites forged the names of medical equipment manufacturers and posted information of fake medical devices for sale, posing severe risks to people's health. The products sold on the websites include medical equipment to treat infertility, epilepsy and prostate problems, as well as blood pressure meters and medical pillows. The case has been transferred to relevant authorities, the SFDA said in the statement posted on its website. Online shopping has become increasingly popular in China, whose online population reached 618 million by the end of 2013. More than 70 percent of online shoppers had "unhappy" online shopping experiences, the People's Daily, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of China, reported on Friday. Of all the complaints, only about one-third were settled, the newspaper said, quoting the results of its poll. China's law on consumer rights was revised in October 2013, the first revision since its adoption in 1993, to address matters such as online shopping and consumer privacy.
