A total of 374,855 people passed away in 2012 in Turkey. Turkey's statistical institute TurkStat announced the death statistics for 2012 on Tuesday. According to the statistics, 55 percent  of deceased were males and 45 percent were females. In 2012, the highest proportion in death events was seen in 75+ age group with 46,2 percent. On the other hand, the lowest proportion with 0,5 percent in death events was seen in 10-14 age group. 14,845 infant death events were occurred in 2012.   TurkStat also announced the statistics on causes for death for 2010, 2011 and 2012. More than half of deaths were caused by diseases of the circulatory system and malignant neoplasms. As comparing the percentages of diseases caused to death in 2010, 2011 and 2012 years, circulatory system disease appeared to be the number one cause of deaths. Malignant neoplasms ranked second as the highest death reason. The sum of these two causes of death was percent 59.0 of total causes of death in 2012. 37.9 percent of death cases were caused by diseases of the circulatory system in 2012.
