Health warns against use of Spanish fly product

The Pharmacy and Drug Control Department of the Supreme Council of Health has warned against the use of the Spanish Fly product in all its pharmaceutical forms.
In a press release issued today, the Department confirmed that the product in question is not registered at the Supreme Council of Health and its use is not allowed in the State of Qatar.
The statement explained that the product causes many health problems such as abortion, irritation of the urinary tract, severe harm to the kidney and frequent urination in addition to its adverse effect on the digestive system and the eye.
The statement said it has a psychological impact which lead to delirium and loss of consciousness warning that using the product in large doses can lead to death.
The Supreme Council of Health warned against the import of the lotion or trading in it to maintain the public interest.
