An ambitious plan to overhaul the health sector in Bahrain was unveiled yesterday. Details of the roadmap were released during a session chaired by Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Undersecretary Dr. Nabeel Abul Fateh. Health Ministry undersecretary Dr. Aisha Bu’unuq and representatives of the five municipal councils attended the coordination meeting. The session follows directives from His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa to step up coordination between Government parties in charge of services and municipal councils. Under the draft plan, a health centre would accommodate the needs of 20,000 citizens. The proposal blueprint stipulates the construction of one public hospital in each governorate as part of efforts to promote health services. The ministry intends to construct special centres in the five governments-including physiotherapy facilities. Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Assistant Undersecretary Mohammed Nour Al-Sheikh and other officials attended.
