Britons living in London are less likely to exercise frequently than those elsewhere in England, but not as much as Germans, a survey indicates. The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index indicated about half of adult residents in London said they exercise for at least 30 minutes three or more times per week, compared with 54 percent for the rest of Britain. However, 7-in-10 residents of the German capital Berlin exercise frequently, slightly fewer than the 74 percent who report they do so in the rest of the country. U.S. adults have similar exercise habits as those in Britain. However, in both London and Berlin, the oldest age group, those age 65 and older, were the most likely to exercise frequently, unlike the United States, where seniors are among the least likely to exercise frequently, Gallup officials said. The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index survey was conducted March 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012, of 1,461 adults in London, 13,002 in the rest of Britain, 789 in Berlin and 14,566 in the rest of Germany. The margin of error for the survey in London was 3.2 percentage points, 1.1 percentage points in the rest of Britain, 4.4 percentage points in Berlin, and 1 percentage points in the rest of Germany.
