France records more enterprise births in January

France recorded more enterprise births in January compared with that in December 2013 as fears over worsening of economy eased, French national statistics bureau Insee said Friday. Enterprise births grew by 2.4 percent excluding self-managed enterprises (seasonally and working-day adjusted data) from last month, while including the number of self-managed enterprises, the increase was 4.1 percent to 47,607 births. Adding up November, December and January, the number of enterprise births increased by 3.5 percent compared with the same three-month period a year before. The growth of education, health and social work activities mainly contributed to the high number of business start ups over the period, Insee said. Self-managed enterprises play a vital role in creating enterprises in France with more than one out of two enterprise births were self-managed enterprises, representing 51.1 percent of the country's total created firms in January.
