
The Executive Office of the Arab Health Ministers Council convened here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Kuwait's Health Minister Dr. Ali Saad Al-Obaidi.
In his inaugural speech, Al-Obaidi underscored the significance of on-table topics, especially those aiming to develop and support Arab common action.
He said that the gathering tackles the activities of the Arab Health Ministers Council's secretariat, health situations in Palestine and preparations for an Arab economic, social and development summit due in Tunisia later this year.
Arab integration in the field of medicine, Arab strategy for fighting AIDS and Arab efforts exerted to combat Ebola virus are also on the office's agenda, he noted.
The Executive Office is expected to present a report on implementation of resolutions taken in the last meeting of the council.
The meeting also reviews a number of issues listed on the agenda of the 43rd session of the Arab Health Minsters Council to be held tomorrow under the chairmanship of Morocco.
Health ministers of Egypt and Qatar, as well as representatives of health ministers of Palestine, Oman, Tunisia, Libya, Morocco and Somalia are taking part in the meeting.
On the sidelines of the Executive Office meeting, the Arab Fund for Health Development convened here on Wednesday to discuss the budget and projects carried out in some Arab countries.
The council's discretionary budget totaling USD one billion was ratified during the meeting.
