
Tests showed that two men admitted into hospital on suspicion of contracting Ebola virus in Spain were not been infected, EFE news agency reported on Saturday.
Both men were admitted into hospital on Friday on suspicion of being infected after showing symptoms of the disease. But tests carried out in the Instituto de Salud Carlos III in Madrid showed that they were not infected with the virus.
The Hospital Clinic of Barcelona on Friday treated a 36-year-old man from Senegal who had been in Guinea between Aug. 17 and 19.
Also on Friday evening a 38-year-old man from Guinea, who had been in the country for holidays and returned to Spain on Aug. 17, was admitted to the Hospital Royo Villanova of Zaragoza because of his symptoms.
Tests showed he suffered from malaria.
The outbreak of Ebola virus in West Africa has killed some 1,350 people since last March according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
In Spain, missionary Miguel Pajares died in Spain from Ebola five days after being flown out of Liberia, where he caught the virus. He was the first European victim.
