
A new human case of H7N9 bird flu has been reported in east China's Jiangsu Province, the provincial health authorities said on Saturday. The man surnamed Xuan, 54, is receiving treatment in a hospital in the provincial capital of Nanjing after his contraction of the virus was confirmed on Thursday, according to a statement issued by Jiangsu's health department. This is the second case reported in the province in 2014. The other, a 54-year-old woman in Nanjing, was reported on Wednesday. The two patients are currently in stable conditions, said the statement. Human cases of H7N9 have been reported in the provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Guangdong as well as Shanghai Municipality so far this year.
