Doha is to host the first international conference for falcons veterinary 2014 in 29th of January, with a large group of arab and foreign veterinarians attending..The conference to be held on the sidelines of the Fifth Annual Qatar International Falcons and Hunting, which kicked off earlier Thursday aims to connect the falconers and the veterinary and spread the relevant information about the development of falcon veterinary in addition to attracting the university students to be involved in such a vital sector. For his part,  Zayed Mohammad Al Ali Al Maadeed , the chairman of the aforesaid falcons veterinary conference's  organising committee who is also secretary general of Qatar Al Gannas Association made clear that the three-day conference will witness workshops for the veterinarians to exchange views and expertise and scientific development in falcons veterinary . Surgical operations would be conducted for a group of birds at Souq Waqf Hospital with the participant veterinarians and a number of university students and other interested and specialized in the field.Al Maadheed told a press conference held on Thursday at Al Burqa Hall at Qatar Al Gannas (hunting) Association ahead of the first international conference for falcons veterinary 2014 that the hunting association  has coordinated over the past four years to form a universal link among falconers and veterinary medicine, and support for poor countries to open clinics which serve to address the falcoms and the birds of prey, with the establishment of a data bank and social networking between falconer and the doctor and hatcheries in captivity and international organizations and ministries of the environment and natural reserves. Elaborating Zayed Mohammad Al Ali Al Maadeed, added that Qatar Al Gannas Association will host by the end of this month in the 45th meetings of the general assembly for the international falcon federation and the meeting will be under the sponsorship of Katara.The meeting will discuss proposals and suggestions raised by falconers all over the world before it will be forwarded to the IAF. Also in the agenda are international laws against falconry as a sport. Sixty-six countries have confirmed participation to the conference in addition to 20 more suggested to attend the meeting. Organizations such as Cites and Unesco in addition to falcon federations in the Arab region, Europe, the US, Asia and Africa are among those expected to attend the meeting.It is noted that the number of participants at the fifth annual Qatar International Falcon and Hunting Festival has already reached 1,400, making the festival the biggest yet, the organisers said. "The participants this year reached 1,400, which is the highest number since the festival started," said Mohamed Abdulatif Al Misned, Vice- Chairman of festival organizing committee, announcing registration for the Al Mazain competition would go on until January 28.Speaking at yesterday’s press conference before the start of the festival, Al Misned thanked all government and non-government entities which have shown their support to the month-long event.One of the most anticipated events in Qatar and the GCC, the festival is lauded for highlighting falconry and hunting as significant aspect of Arab heritage and at the same time attracting domestic and regional tourism.The festival, being held at Sabkath Marma in Sealine, attracted many enthusiasts of the sport at the opening competition which was the Hadad Challeng.
