Recent statistical figures released by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's National Oncology Records indicate the increasing rate of incidence of colon and rectum cancers in Saudi males. Statistics published showed that 1106 colon and/or rectal cancer patients visited hospitals in 2009 alone. Colon and rectum surgeons in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia voiced concerns over the rising rate of incidence of colon and rectum cancers in Saudi males due to a number of risk factors such as obesity, smoking, etc. The Chief Surgeon of the King Khalid Hospital in the Saudi National Guard, Dr. Khalid Al-Rosaini, stated that circa 300 cases of colon and/or rectal cancers have been received yearly, of whom 25% had colon cancer. He added that patients receive medical treatment on case-by-case basis. Dr. Khalid voiced concern over this hazardous ailment and urged for organizing programs all over the world to increase public awarness on the significance of a healthy alimentary system, early detection of the onset of colon cancer and to announced many international days not just one day because the number9s) of colon tumor patients are on the rise.
