Chances of Ebola virus outbreak in Qatar Slim

HE Director of the department of Public Health in the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani said that the chances of an Ebola virus outbreak in Qatar were very slim.
The reason was that the spread of the virus required direct contact with an infected person, His Excellency said, pointing out that that the SCH had adopted a number of precautionary measures to limit any chance of an Ebola virus threat.
He was addressing a seminar organized by SCH on dealing with the threat of Ebola virus on a national level. The seminar was held in cooperation with Hamad Medical Cooperation and Primary Health Care Corporation, and with the participation of the department of medical services at Qatar Airways, Qatar Petroleum and other health institutions in both the public and private sectors.
 Some 500 specialists in the medical field participated in the event held as part of a campaign to raise awareness on combating the virus.
The SCH said last week that its raised its level of preparation to facing the Ebola Virus. It warned against travelling to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria where the virus has been spreading. The council confirmed there were no cases of an Ebola virus infection in the State of Qatar.
