Twenty-four passengers injured in a tour bus crash in the Canadian Province of British Colombia have remained in hospital as of Friday morning and all of them were in stable condition after overnight treatment, a spokesperson for local health authority said.
Among them, seven remained in critical condition, six in serious condition and 11 with non-life threatening injuries, Miahaela Swan, spokesperson for Interior Health, one of the geographically based health authorities in British Columbia, told Xinhua.
Nineteen others, who were injured when the bus rolled over and crashed on a stretch of mountain highway Thursday afternoon, have been released from hospitals, she said.
Swan said she was not clear if the traffic accident was caused by overspeed or human error, not did she know where the patients were coming from. But she believed the patients were all from Asian countries.
All the 56 people aboard the ill-fated bus operated by a Chinese tour company based in Vancouver suffered some kind of injury, but no fatalities had been reported as of early Thursday evening, local police officer Norm Flemming told Xinhua.
Both Chinese and Canadian nationals were involved, but " everybody was of Asian descent, and Chinese seemed to be the language of choice," he said.
