The development of bilateral relations between Algeria and the United States in the health field was broached Tuesday, in Algiers, by Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf and US Ambassador to Algiers Joan A. Polaschik, a ministry's communiqué said.
The meeting was an opportunity for the two officials to assess bilateral cooperation that encompasses various fields.
The two sides agreed on making further efforts to shed light on the opportunities offered by the Algerian market, especially as there is a plan to develop and modernize health sector, in which the US ambassador showed a keen interest.
Boudiaf stressed Algeria's willingness to have a "more sustained partnership" between the two countries, mainly in health, which offered real opportunities.
The minister cited agreements concluded with Varian and General Electric Healthcare, as well as a memorandum signed in June with Pharma group for the development of a biotechnological centre in Algeria.
Polaschik expressed the wish of his country's authorities and US firms to further develop bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially in relation to hospital engineering, pharmaceutical industry and training.
