Al Khalidi hospital, US medical centre sign deal

Al Khalidi Hospital and Medical Center (KHMC) on Tuesday signed a Comprehensive Medical Affiliation Agreement with the Boston-based Lahey Hospital and Medical Center.
The two centres said the affiliation brings together two organizations with a shared vision to create an exceptional healthcare delivery system whose main objective is to create a sustainable health system, focusing on population health, delivering value-based care.
“Over the last 35 years, we have continuously endeavoured to provide the healthcare system in Jordan with excellent, patient-focused services,” said Walid Al Khalidi, CEO of KHMC.
He said the signing was a huge step in the private healthcare sector in Jordan, because it is not about an affiliation agreement or a contract, but about people, the patients, healthcare professionals and access to quality and preventative health care.
Dr. Howard Grant, President and CEO of Lahey Health, said Lahey Health had become increasingly engaged in efforts to grow its system locally and abroad because it felt that patients deserve the best care possible.
“We also aim to strengthen each partner in its own community. Our partnership with KHMC will accomplish this aim, while giving patients in Jordan and the region seamless patient experience and access to our internationally renowned medical center locally and abroad,” Grant said.
Through the affiliation, KHMC will build a stronger system of care covering a wide spectrum of specialties and giving the Jordanian community and patients from neighboring countries access to high quality tertiary level services.
In addition, and with Lahey’s support, KHMC is working on its short- and long-term objectives through multiple projects that will be a huge introduction to the private healthcare sector in Jordan and will take the healthcare services in Jordan to “a whole new level”.
These projects include Al Khalidi Education and Training Center, which has been running for over a year with the aim of empowering healthcare providers, as well as the introduction of the two most important projects, the Women’s Health and Breast Center and the new Outpatient Diagnostic Center.
