Over 1,700 people died of infectious diseases in China in December, the health ministry has said . It said 1,757 people had died of infectious diseases, mainly viral hepatitis, pulmonary tuberculosis, syphilis, dysentery and scarlet fever. A total of 601,574 infectious disease cases were reported during the month, China''s Xinhua news agency quoted the ministry as saying.
