Former president of Mauritius Cassam Uteem arrived here on a visit to Egypt to monitor the runoff elections of the second stage of the parliamentary elections, slated for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Uteem leads the delegation of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa who is following up the elections in Egypt along with a number of international delegations and civil society organizations.

He will meet with senior officials particularly at the Higher Election Committee to follow up preparations for the participation of the African Union's delegation in following up the runoffs of the second phase of the parliamentary elections.
