Sisi fights terror, US should support him

Head of the Homeland Security Committee at the US House of Representatives Michael McCaul has said that the Muslim Brotherhood group is a terrorist organization that constitutes a threat to Egypt and the entire region.

At a conference organized by Hudson Institute here under the rubric "fighting violent extremism: Qatar, Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood" he added al Qaeda is an affiliate with the group.

He added that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is fighting the Brotherhood group and that Washington should support him to guarantee the stability of the Middle East.

He further noted that Qatar has relations that could shake the stability of the region. Qatar should change its policies if it would like to remain an ally to the United States, he added.

Head of the Foreign Relations Committee at the House Ed Royce supported that view. He added that the US should fight extremist ideas that are propagated by groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, which he described as an arch enemy to the civil State.

Most of the times, the Brotherhood uses democratic institutions to achieve their ulterior goals.

As for Qatar, he added that Qatar has a history in supporting terrorism and extremism via Aljazeera channel and through supporting the Brotherhood.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain have withdrawn their ambassadors from Qatar in 2014 after Doha's interference in their internal affairs, he added.
