
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry participated early Wednesday in the Dead Sea in a quartet meeting with officials from Jordan, Palestine and the EU.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Twitter that the meeting came at a Jordanian initiative to support the peace process.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Palestinian chief negotiator Sa'eb Erekat and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini attended the meeting.
The meeting comes ahead of the 28th Arab summit due to open in Jordan later Wednesday with the participation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
