H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended this evening the opening of the 2nd Sharjah Desert Theater Festival at Kuhaif area.

Sheikh Sultan watched the inaugural show, an epic play penned by him under the title "Daesh wal Ghabraa", an adaptation of a long pre-Islam battle called 'Dahis wal Ghabraa', that lasted for 40 years.

After the show, Sheikh Sultan said the play depicts the role Islam played in defeating the ignorance and the forces of darkness.

"We hope that every Muslim will follow the right path of Islam, as shown by Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)," he added.

The open air theatre festival, organised by the Theatre Department in Sharjah Department of Culture and Information, will run until 19th December.
