H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, has opened the Ahmed bin Zayed Mosque in Zakher, Al Ain.
The new mosque was built in the Islamic Andalusian and Moroccan architecture style on an area of 3248 square metres and can accommodate up to 1000 male and female worshippers. It features two 42-metre-tall minarets and a dome with an interior made of different types of precious wood.
The construction of the mosque started on 11 May 2013.
H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan Chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs (ZHO), and a number of senior officials attended the opening of the new mosque.
