On Thursday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi chaired the first meeting of the National Terrorism-Combat Council.
Sisi highlighted the importance of the role that shall be played by the national entity at the current critical stage of Egypt’s history.
Regional and international efforts to fight terrorism require firm steps at the national and international levels in order to effectively fight terrorism and extremism, the president stated.
A comprehensive vision shall also be adopted on the best ways to render the role of the national council effective and able to carry out its tasks in the coming stage, Sisi said.
A comprehensive national terrorism-combat strategy shall be adopted by the council to fight terrorism and extremism locally and internationally, he reiterated.
Such a strategy shall involve security, culture, economic, social and media axis and a better coordination among all state bodies to implement it.
According to Sisi, the council shall contribute to efforts to promote moderate religious discourse, correct wrong concepts and set a plan to protect young men from extremism.
