In recent years initiatives that aim to raise awareness about maintaining a healthy eco-friendly lifestyle have been on the rise, gaining momentum by the enthusiasm displayed by the participants and the increase in the number of those willing to take part in the events.

The next upcoming and highly anticipated event is being launched and organised by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Egypt.

The Netherlands is well-known for being a country that celebrates the integration of cycling in urban transportation, promoting the concepts of health and reducing costs and pollution emitted by gas.

The event comes as a fifth sequel to a similar successful initiative launched by the embassy around the same time in previous years.

This year, the ride focuses on the concept of sustainability, raising the motto of "Orange is the new green."

For the preparation of the event this year as well as in previous years, the embassy will collaborate with Global Biking Initiative of Egypt, which is the leading bike riding community in the country, as well as Abou Elgoukh for providing bikes.

Orange Bike Day has been organised annually by the Dutch embassy since 2012, when around 400 people participated. The participants increased in number each year, until last year when more than 3000 took part in the ride, painting the streets in a beautiful scene of orange.

The participants are to gather at 7:30 am in Friday at Fish garden in Zamalek district, before the ride starts at 8:30.
