Obama leaves UK on Air Force one after flying visit

President Barack Obama has left the UK after a flying visit in which he warned Britons not to vote to leave the EU.

The US leader waved to waiting crowds as he climbed aboard his person US Air Force One jet today, ITV reported.

He is now headed to Germany where he will hold talks with chancellor Angela Merkel, one of his closest allies in Europe.

Obama provoked a whirlwind of both cheers and jeers during what is likely to be his his final visit to the country as US president.

The US president angered supporters of an EU exit for Britain.

He warnined that it could take a decade for the UK to negotiate a new trade agreement with the United States if it leaves the European Union.

In a BBC interview, Obama said "it could be five years from now, 10 years from now before we were able to actually get something done".

The US and the 28-nation European bloc of which Britain is a member are attempting to seal a trade deal, the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, or TTIP.

He said Friday that Britain would go to the "back of the queue" for a trade deal if it votes to leave in a June 23 referendum.

That drew scorn from backers of a UK exit, or Brexit, who accused the president of meddling.
