Tokyo - SPA
Jirouemon Kimura, Japan's oldest person and the world's oldest man, celebrated his 115th birthday at home Thursday, dpa cited local media as reporting. Kimura, who lives in Kyotango city in western Japan, spends more time on his bed these days, but eats three meals a day with his family, Mainichi daily reported. Born April 19, 1897, Kimura worked at a local post office for 38 years. He turned to farming after his retirement and continued until the age of 90. Kimura has seven children, of whom five are still alive, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren, the paper said. The previous oldest living man was Walter Breuning of the United States, who was born on September 21, 1896. Breuning passed away on April 14, 2011.
