
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry left Istanbul Thursday after attending the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
In a press release, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shoukry chaired the opening session earlier in the day and gave a speech on behalf of Sisi then he handed over the presidency of the 13th round of the summit to Turkey before leaving the summit and Istanbul back home.
The speech reviewed Egypt's efforts during the 12th round of the summit and a deep analysis concerning threats facing the international system especially the Arab and Islamic nations.
The speech also tackled terrorism and crises in Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, south Philippines, Mali, Jammu and Kashmir, Myanmar and others.
He also asserted the importance of enhancing joint action among Islamic states to face various challenges.
The minister also reviewed Egypt's efforts concerning the Palestinian cause and Palestinians' rights.
