Marking the visit of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall, to the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa attended a reception hosted by the Embassy of the United Kingdom to commemorate the bicentennial year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During the reception, which was hosted by the UK Ambassador Simon Martin, Shaikh Khalid expressed Bahrain’s honour to welcome HRH Prince Charles and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall to Bahrain, highlighting that the visit reflects the strong and historic bilateral ties that date back more than 200 years.

Shaikh Khalid went on to praise the United Kingdom’s stance and support for Bahrain’s development efforts and its desire to continue to expand cooperation across various sectors. Throughout the reception, guests had an opportunity to tour an exhibition which showcased work by local organisations including the Bahraini Farmers Market, Bahrain Animal Welfare Society, Palm Society, the Institute of Active Learning, Bahrain Institute of Banking and Financial Studies, the University of Applied Science, the Annual Concorde Exhibition and Khalifa Shaheen Photography Gallery.. 

Also featuring at the reception were members from local sporting and community clubs which reflect the deep cultural ties between both countries including the British Club, Dilmun Club and the Rugby and Cricket Clubs.
Guests also had an opportunity during the reception to meet and engage with senior Bahrain Ministers, members of the Shura Council and Council of Representatives, British businessmen, Bahrain’s current and former Ambassadors to the United Kingdom, Heads of Diplomatic Missions to the Commonwealth and British, American and Bahraini military officials as well as senior member of Bahrain’s traditional families.
