
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Counselor Ahmed Abu Zeid said Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will head for Beirut later in the day to assert Egypt's support to Lebanon and its institutions and enhance bilateral relations.
In statements on Tuesday, Abu Zeid said Shoukry will meet with Lebanon's newly-elected President Michel Aoun and Newly-assigned Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri who will be handed messages from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The visit will also include meetings with top Lebanese political leaders topped by Acting Prime Minister Tammam Sallam, Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and House of Deputies Speaker Nabih Berri, along with heads of main political parties and currents, said the spokesman.
The talks are expected to focus on latest regional and international developments and the situation in Lebanon after the end of the presidential vacuum, he added.
The Egyptian top diplomat will also assert Egypt's backing of Lebanese fellows in their efforts to form a new government that could guarantee regular work at Lebanese institutions and meet the interests of the Lebanese people.
