Former assistant foreign minister Hussein Haridy
Moscow - Arab Today

Former assistant foreign minister Hussein Haridy said Sunday a bridge, planned to link Egypt and Saudi Arabia, would deprive Israel of a strategic advantage related to the separation between the Arab countries in the east and west.

Haridy told Sputnik that Israel considers this separation as part of its geographical security since it was established in 1948.

Any threat or actual use of force against this project by Israel will be considered a serious breach of the peace treaty signed with Egypt.

On Friday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud announced that an agreement has been reached to build a bridge over the Red Sea connecting the two countries.
