US presidential election Donald Trump
Washington - Arab Today

Although the Republican candidate for the US presidential election Donald Trump may not win the White House, his impact will continue until after elections.

Analysts unanimously said that Trump has made a change in the American political scene and in the relationship between the Democratic and Republican parties.

The US billionaire has made a big surprise when his party announced his candidacy for the US presidential elections, as he never held an elected office before. He succeeded quickly in attracting an ever-expanding fan base.

Throughout his campaign, Trump used abusive language in his electoral discourse and expressed the anger of the American voter in the face of globalization and demographic changes witnessed by the US society in the last two decades.

In a poll conducted by (Bloomberg) among Republican voters, 51% of them chose Trump, while 33% of them chose Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.

In this regard, Perret Camic, a researcher at the Middle East Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that Donald Trump has changed the campaigning style, pointing to the growing wave of populism within the Republican Party, which will continue after the elections.

He said that Trump's influence on the Republican Party will be clear in the coming period, adding that his movement will have a great influence within the party.

For his part, Claudius Felix, a Professor of Political Science at US Georgetown University, told QNA that Trump has sought throughout his campaign to present himself as a candidate who opposes and criticizes the existing policy and regime, stressing that Trump also has created a rift in the relationship between the Republican and Democratic parties and that his supporters will stay on their distaste for the Democrats.

About the indignation that targeted Trump's lewd comments in more than one occasion, and whether freedom of expression gives the right for a candidate to spread hate speech against other religions, insult women, minorities and immigrants, make fun of people's disabilities and insult former US soldiers, Felix said that, unlike the European laws, the first amendment to the US Constitution allows freedom of expression, and therefore nothing legally prevents the candidate to make allegations and an unacceptable remarks.
