Wild animals such as lions have been banned in Iraq Baghdad – Najlaa el-Taaei The Iraqi Environment Ministry announced on Monday that it has banned the import of all wild animals into the country. The Director General of the Department of Environmental Awareness and Information, Ameer Ali Hassoun, said the Iraqi cabinet has formed a committee that will work on preventing all wild animals such as crocodiles, snakes, wild birds, lions, tigers, and leopards from being brought into Iraq.
The statement explained that the committee will in coordination with the interior ministry, who secures the country’s borders, prepare several measures to ensure the new regulations are followed, whilst also ban the possession and buying or selling the animals.
