Ajmol Alom, 16, got 8 As and 3 Bs in his secondary school exams London – Arab Today The parents of a London teenager who died in an apparently unprovoked knife attack last week learned on Thursday he got top marks in his school exams.
Ajmol Alom, 16, received eight As and three Bs in his general certificate of secondary education exams, The Guardian reported. High school students must pass the GCSE to advance to A-level courses that qualify them for university.
The teenager was with a friend in Poplar, the East London district where they lived, when they were attacked. Witnesses said they were set upon by a group of five or six young men.
Ajmol died of his injuries in a hospital.
Chris Dunne, the head teacher at Langdon Park School, said Ajmol was an excellent student who was on track to fulfill his ambition to study medicine.
"Ajmol would always have been the last person to boast of his abilities," Dunne said.
"He regularly attended the extra classes and revision sessions run by his teachers, even when he probably didn't need their help any longer. His friends could rely on him for help if they needed it, not for arrogance or scorn."
Tareque Alom, a friend, called Ajmol "a really sociable person."
"He was humble, he was never arrogant with all his grades and was always willing to help others who didn't understand," Tareque said.
Three men have been detained, including one charged with murder, The Wharf reported. Ajmol's family in an interview with the BBC on Tuesday pleaded with witnesses to the killing to talk to police.
