Students blame staff members for ‘deliberately’ failing them in exams
Alexandria - Ahmed Khaled

Students blame staff members for ‘deliberately’ failing them in exams Arts students at northern Egypt’s University of Alexandria have organised demonstrations against teaching staff, following a string of bad results in first semester examinations. Students claim professors are “deliberately” failing people.
Protesters gathered in the university’s college yard, chanting slogans against exam board staff and calling for re-marks on examination papers.
Omar al-Masri, student union president, has claimed the “era of being oppressed” by teaching staff must end.
“Students will not give up their legitimate right to re-correct the papers,” he added.
Khaled el-Masri, a member of the union’s board, has also claimed professors have been forcing students to buy more expensive books while swapping dates for lectures.
“The ball is now in the court of the college’s board about whether they take the students’ side or not,” el-Masri said. “The students will not give up their rights and we will escalate protests if our demands are not met.”
The University of Alexandria has witnessed many protests against staff in recent months, leading to two professors being reliever of their duties.
