Mahmoud Abou Ghanima
Oman - Osama Al Rantissi
Mahmoud Abou Ghanima Head of the Jordanian Agronomists' Association Mahmoud Abou Ghanima has revealed that the country's agricultural trade with Israel has declined significantly, in comparison to previous years. Abou Ghanima believes that traders are looking for other markets to imports or export their agricultural goods from because the people of Jordan are refusing to buy Israeli products.
In terms of Jordan exporting olive oil and other products to Israel, Abou Ghanima, said that figures reflect the "reluctance of farmers to export to Israel." Jordanian traders exported nearly 500 tonnes of olives to Israel this year, a major reducation in quantities compares to last year, when almost 11,000 tonnes were exported.
A government source said: "The quantities of olives issued to Israel this year came out without obtaining permits from the Ministry of Agriculture."
