Frankfurt - Arab Today
Ruler of Sharjah visited stand of Knowledge without Borders (KWB) in Germany His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, visited the stand of the Knowledge without Borders (KWB) project on the first day of the Frankfurt Book Fair, which is taking place in Germany until October the 13th.
Sheikh Dr Sultan Al Qasimi was received at the stand by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Organising Committee of Knowledge without Borders, and Rashid Al Kous, KWB Project General Manager.
The Ruler of Sharjah listened to a presentation on the project's participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair and its activities on the international stage. The presentation also highlighted the role of the Knowledge without Borders project in promoting knowledge and a culture of reading in Sharjah through a number of exciting initiatives.
Sheikh Dr Sultan Al Qasimi praised the outstanding role the KWB project plays in fostering a love of reading among various segments of the community, and commended the KWB team for the implementation of various programmes aimed at ensuring that all members of the community, as well as various government and private bodies, have access to books. He also praised KWB for connecting children with books and libraries through the project's diverse range of educational, entertaining and cultural programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, said, "Our participation in this major book event aims to highlight Sharjah's efforts in promoting culture and books among various segments of society, as well as to emphasize the project's achievements in facilitating access to books and information and establishing a library in each Emirati household." She added, "The visit of Sheikh Sultan was of great significance and served as great encouragement for us. We strongly believe that success has no limits, and as we reach more milestones, we become increasingly committed to pushing ahead with our mission." Head of the Organizing Committee of KWB stated: "We made use of our participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair to announce the launch of a new library project in residential districts. The initiative is in line with our goal to ensure that every sector of the community has access to books, whether they are at home, at school, at university, or even in a waiting area at one of Sharjah's government departments. We pledge to continue with this project until we are able to create access to books at public parks. We see this as a pioneering step in promoting culture and knowledge and expanding the scope towards greater horizons in the future."
