 Ruler of Sharjah Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has stressed that Paris constitutes a cultural and artistic statue in the world. A move he added, encourages him to translate many of his works into French, out of belief that the French readers are fond of reading about other cultures.
The remarks were made during at the inauguration ceremony of the launch of the French version of his book " Memory Dialogue" in the French capital, Paris, on Monday evening at the headquarters of the Arab World Institute - Paris - France. A number of politicians, diplomats, intellectuals, scientists, academics, employers and owners of international publishing houses were present.
Welcoming the audience, Sheikh Sultan said :"It is my pleasure to see many of our friends and invited guests, who take part in this private ceremony." He thanked all those in the Arab World Institute for their efforts to organise and host this ceremony. He referred to the French readers who are fond of reading about other cultures.
He said: "This evening we had launched the French copy of our book " Memory Dialogue", which is the second part of a series of books written over the past few years on important events that affected the lives of many people including me. Those events also affected the latest political developments in the region.
Sheikh Sultan added that " In March last year we have launched here in Paris, the French edition of the first part of this series, which covered childhood years until the year 1971, which is the year of the founding of the United Arab Emirates, where the second part that we published today covers the critical years that followed the founding of my country until the year 1977." He said that the third part of this series is being translated from English to French and hoped that it would be published here in Paris next year, noting that it part the period from 1978 to1987, which is the phase of construction.
A number of French senior officials, academics, cultural figures, Mohammad Mir Abdullah Al Raisi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of France and a number of ambassadors and diplomats were present.
The President of the Arab World Institute, Jack Lang, and Kapil, a professor at the Paris Center for Critical Studies (CIEE) delivered the speeches in which they thanked and appreciated sheikh Sultan, and hailed the great role he played in various fields, especially in the cultural and creative areas
