Zamalek players have not been paid salaries since last season
Cairo - Hisham Chahine
Zamalek players have not been paid salaries since last season Several Zamalek players have threatened to boycott training on Friday over unpaid salaries. The players told the club's board on Thursday that they wouldn't take part in training until they were paid salaries dating back to last season.
The Cairo-based football club has failed to meet its obligations, despite making several promises to the players over the last few weeks.
Meanwhile, the club has signed veteran goalkeeper Mohamed al-Akabawi from Arab Contractors on a free transfer, Starafrica.com has reported.
The 34-year old joined the Whites on a three-year deal after ending his 11-year stay with Arab Contractors.
Al-Akabawi is expected to serve as back-up for Zamalek captain Abdel-Wahed el-Sayed, with the imminent departure of Mahmoud Gennesh.
