Lu Wei-Chih of Taiwan plays a fairway shot during The Hero Indian Open golf tournament, New Delhi Taiwan's Lu Wei-chih will make his long-awaited return to top-level Asian golf next month after battling a brain tumour which he feared would end his career.
The three-time Asian Tour winner, 34, will be back in action on home soil at the Yeangder Tournament Players' Championship following successful surgery.
"I will try to take things in my stride and not give myself so much pressure. I just want to do my best. It's not going to be easy but I'm prepared for it," said Lu in comments released by the Asian Tour.
The father-of-two has been off the regional tour for more than a year. He was diagnosed with the non-cancerous growth after suffering dizzy spells, and went under the knife in August 2012.
"I couldn't lead a normal lifestyle for a period of time. I couldn't sit up straight without feeling giddy, not to mention holding my golf clubs properly," he said.
"I felt weak and I get restless very easily. That was when I thought I might never get to play golf again."
He added: "My family has been very helpful and supportive, especially my wife. If not for them, I may not have pulled through this crisis."
Lu will now return to his place among Taiwan's best players at the September 12-15 tournament at Linkou Golf and Country Club.
