The Emirati Al Wasl Club won the volleyball competition at the third Arab Women Sports Tournament 2016 (AWST), Al Wasl gained victory after beating Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) 3-0 with scores of 25-12, 25-21 and 25-19. In the second edition of AWST in 2014, SLC won the volleyball competition against Al Wasl, 3-1.

Al Wasl Club bagged the gold medal, while the Bahraini Al Muharraq Club won the silver, and Sharjah Ladies Club slipped took the bronze medal. Lebanon's Al Qalamoon Club came fourth, followed by the Lebanese Olympic in the fifth place and Palestinian Ebdaa Club came last in sixth place.

The Jordanian Orthodox club advanced to the final round of the basketball competition after beating the Algerian Olympic club 58-53 in the semifinal, despite winning 25-23 in the first half of the match. SLC also made it to the final round after

securing a 68-66 win against the Egyptian Sporting Club in a very exciting match even though the Sporting Club won 30-28 in the first half.

The third Arab Women Sports Tournament, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, began on February 2 and ended yesterday on February 12.
