The Yemeni President, Ali Abdullah Saleh, returned to Sanaa
Sanaa - Khalid Al-Haroji

The Yemeni President, Ali Abdullah Saleh, returned to Sanaa The Yemeni President, Ali Abdullah Saleh, returned to Sanaa after spending several months recuperating in Saudi Arabia from an assassination attempt. Saleh was forced to travel to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment after an attack on his Presidential Palace in June.
Saleh’s return, which was announced on state television, comes after days of escalating violence between Saleh’s troops and the opposition.
Over 100 people have been killed in clashes since Sunday.
Clashes on Thursday killed 11 people, including two women in Sana'a .
Diplomatic sources in Sanaa said that the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdul-Latif Al Zayani, had asked the Yemeni opposition to give the GCC 48 hours to persuade the Saleh or his deputy to sign the Gulf initiative and begin the transfer of power.
In the meantime, a huge explosion was heard in the Heda neighborhood, which was thought to be caused by artillery shells targeting the houses of Major General Ali Mohsen and opposition figure, Sheikh Hamid al-Ahmar.
Demonstrations have continued across Yemen today as protesters turn out in huge numbers to condemn the killing of demonstrators.
