Secretary-General of Party of Progress and Socialism, Nabil Benabdallah
Casablanca - Abdelilah Bou Sahaba

Secretary-General of Party of Progress and Socialism, Nabil Benabdallah Moroccan Secretary-General of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) Nabil Benabdallah, has broken his silence following the attacks made against him by the Secretary-General of Istiqal Party, Hamid Chabat. Chabat recently withdrew from the coalition government in Morocco after clashing with the PPS.
Benabdallah said during a meeting on Friday in Casablanca that his party "does not accept manipulation with political action."
He attacked Chabat and Istiqal Party, saying: "It is not enough to exaggerate or make claims. There are some constraints but we should be bold and courageous while addressing some issues."
Benabdallah emphasised that his party is willing to pay the political price for his choices, even if the price is there resignation. He asserted that that the main focus of the party is to defend Moroccan democracy and ensure its continuity.
He affirmed that what is important in the current phase is "not who takes charge,” but “how to achieve the desired results of the reforms." The statement came in reference to Chabat who strongly pushed for the exit of Progress and Socialism party from the government if Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane supported it.
He discussed Morocco’s economic and social problems, as well as those concerning territory. Benabdallah called for all parties to bear responsibility of the issues and to maintain wisdom and foresight.
