Head of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Mohammed Badie
Cairo - Akram Ali
Head of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Mohammed Badie Head of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Mohammed Badie, has rejected the calls for a second revolution against the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF), on the first anniversary of the Revolution of January 25. He stressed that Egypt's institutions are the property of its people, thus, the military budget will be subject to the supervision of a limited commission in the parliament, as all national institutions will be."
"I refuse to make an enemy of the army through the repeated protests organized by youth groups opposed to military rule," Badie said in an interview on Dream network, Friday night. "We say that we respect and appreciate the army but the military council must be held accountable for any mistakes... No one is above accountability,"
About the relation between the army and the revolution, he said, "We've achieved a lot, so we have to thank those who have protected us regardless of their mistakes."
"What would the new revolution break? Egypt's institution, whether they are the Ministry of the Interior or the Ministry of Defense. And what would it burn? Our property. That's why we should demand the rest of revolution goals peacefully and in a civilized manner fit for us." Badie said about the demonstrations organized for the revolution anniversary.
On the killing of protesters by the SCAF, Badie said, "If there are mistakes committed by the SCAF, they should be taken to judicial authority with evidence and documents."
Badie refuted rumors concerning the existence of a deal between the Brotherhood and the SCAF, pointing out that the Muslim Brotherhood had rejected El-Selmy document, which included privileges giving to the army, despite the approval of some other political parties.
Badie called on all the Egyptian to join the celebrations in Tahrir square on the anniversary of the revolution, Wednesday. He also warned of people trying to create chaos.
