Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika Algiers – Hocine Bousaleh Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s life is in danger after he was rushed to a private hospital in Switzerland, some media sources have reported. Other sources stated that the Algerian president died on Wednesday. This hasn’t been confirmed or denied by the authorities. It was reported on Tuesday morning that the president was sent to Switzerland or France for treatment after his health worsened. A confidential American diplomatic note leaked by Wikileaks revealed that Bouteflika suffers from cancer, not from stomach ulcers as officially reported.

Arabstoday was informed that he is likely to be in Switzerland for medical tests. Algerian state television have not addressed the news, but they said that the president sent a message to his Macedonian counterpart, thus proving he's alive.
Sources close to the president's family told Arabstoday that Bouteflika is alive and that the Swiss newspaper is spreading rumours.

Similar stories have happened before, where Bouteflika was rushed to a French hospital in 2005 - journalists speculated on the death of the president after he missed the general Assembly of the United Nations.
WikiLeaks announced on its website that the Algerian president suffers from cancer - official sources stated that he only had stomach ulcers.
President Bouteflika announced the formation of the new government led by the new First Minister Abdelmalek Sellal after a delay of four months. It was reported that the president's poor health was the reason behind this delay.
