Other sources stated that the Algerian president died on Wednesday. This hasn’t been confirmed or denied by the authorities. It was reported on Tuesday morning that the president was sent to Switzerland or France for treatment after his health worsened. Arabstoday was informed that he is likely to be in Switzerland for medical tests. Algerian state television have not addressed the news, but they said that the president sent a message to his Macedonian counterpart, thus proving he's alive.
Sources close to the president's family told Arabstoday that Bouteflika is alive and that the Swiss newspaper is spreading rumours.

WikiLeaks announced on its website that the Algerian president suffers from cancer - official sources stated that he only had stomach ulcers.
President Bouteflika announced the formation of the new government led by the new First Minister Abdelmalek Sellal after a delay of four months. It was reported that the president's poor health was the reason behind this delay.
