Taza - Rachid Bougha

Morrocco witnsesses violent protests in Taza Violent clashes occurred in the Moroccan city of Taza, on Wednesday on the first day of Benkirane’s government.  Security forces clashed with a group of students and unemployed people in front of Taza governorate's local council, in which twenty six people were injured, including three seriously wounded.
According to Moroccan media reports, the clashes started when the protesters threw stones at the security forces and burned a police vehicle and some public properties.
Eyewitnesses said that the violent confrontations took place near the governorate's local council where protesters have trashed shops and cafes and burned a police vehicle, and the wounded were transported to the provincial hospital of Ibn Baja, according to ‘Taza City’ website, adding that the clashes occurred at 11:30am on Wednesday, January 4, while the official sources assured that the security sources didn’t arrest anyone.
Meanwhile, the Moroccan News Agency MAP stated that these clashes took place in some neighborhoods surrounding the University of Taza when students wanting to join a group of unemployed graduates, who observed a sit-in outside the headquarters of the province of Taza, threw stones at the elements of the security forces, according to local authorities source.
It added that the same source said incidents were subsequently produced near the headquarters of the province where demonstrators (mostly adolescents) have trashed shops and cafes and burned a police vehicle, and the wounded were transported to Ibn Baja hospital.
