Cairo - Akram Ali

Algerian Ambassador to Cairo Nazeer Al Arabawy received the presidency of the new ordinary round of the League of Arab States’ Council on Sunday during the meeting of the permanent representatives held in the league’s headquarters.
During his speech, Arabawy underlined the role performed by his country to resolve the Arab conflicts especially in Libya, saying that they hosted a number of rounds of talks over the Libyan crisis. He also discussed his country’s efforts to control the oil prices through the OPEC summit held in Algeria.
The Algerian ambassador stressed the need for adopting a comprehensive approach to eliminate terrorism, stressing the need for taking serious steps to settle the Palestinian issue. He urged the international community and the United Nations to force the Israeli occupation to suspend its violations and to establish the Palestinian independent state.
He called the Arab states for adopting a unified position to end the current crises witnessed in the region, stressing the need for reforming the Arab League and its institutions to be able to perform its role as the umbrella of joint Arab work.
On his hand, Tunisian Ambassador Naguib Al Munief said that his country performed a major role to activate the Arab League position to resolve the Arab issues in the light of the current challenges and escalation in the areas of conflicts.
He added, during his speech, that the Palestinian issue remained the priority during his country’s presidency of the Arab League’s Council, praising the efforts exerted by Director General Ahmed Aboul Gheit to resolve the Libyan crisis.
