Traffic diversion on al-Khor commercial street
Doha - QNA

The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced the implementation of a Traffic Diversion on Al Khor Commercial Street last week, which will be in place until Q1 of 2016. Parts of one lane of Al Khor Commercial Street have been closed at the sector extending between the old Coffee Pot Roundabout towards Nassir bin Abdullah Al Missned Street (Commercial Street), passing Al Khor Health Center, as shown in the attached map.
During this period, the mentioned parts have been closed and diverted to a temporary parallel road that was constructed until the end of the closure, in addition to the open lane of the existing road.
This diversion aims at facilitating the implementation of works on the Roads and Infrastructure for Al Khor Commercial Street project, which will improve road alignment and road cross sections within right-of-way corridors ranging between 16 meters and 40 meters, enhancing the smooth traffic flow. The project will also include the construction of traffic signal controlled junctions, as well as service roads and parking bays that will improve commercial and residential access.
It is worth mentioning that the Roads and Infrastructure for Al Khor Commercial Street project falls under the Local Roads and Drainage programme, implemented by the Public Works Authority. The programme aims at developing the current infrastructure through improving existing roads, drainage networks, water and electricity networks, as well as constructing a comprehensive modern infrastructure in all the new areas around the country, in line with the international standards.
Ashghal installed road signs to advice motorists of the diversion. The Authority also requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
