Head of Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish ordered on Monday an urgent investigation into a collision incident in the Suez Canal that occurred earlier in the day.
The German-flagged MV Colombo Express and the Singaporean-flagged MV Maersk Tanjong collided at the mouth of the canal, knocking four containers from the Colombo Express into the sea.
Both ships have been towed at the end of the canal, and the containers were fished out of water.
Navigation along the canal was not interrupted, Suez Canal Authority Spokesman Tareq Hussein said.
