Gulf Air was recognised for its achievements in effectively using information technology (IT) for the benefit of passengers at the CIO 50 Awards and Forum 2012 in Dubai. It was amongst the top 50 organisations and their IT heads, who were honoured for their innovative usage, development and implementation of IT to deliver business value. Hosted and organised by CNME and CPI, the event attracted more than 100 senior IT experts and chief information officers from across the Middle East region. "The award reflects Gulf Air's focus and commitment to the pursuit of information technology excellence - recognising its importance in the aviation industry and continuing the pioneering tradition as reflected in the airline's consistent efforts to introduce innovative elements for its passengers," said Gulf Air chief executive Samer Majali. "Globally, information technology is integral to facilitating business, positively and directly impacting customers. Gulf Air endeavours to always remain on the cusp of IT developments, ensuring that we always offer the best-in-class in our operations, product and service."
