Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, recently won the Best IT Security Project Award during the Security Advisor Middle East event.
Organized by CPI Media Group and held at Al-Habtoor Grand Hotel in Dubai, the event was attended by security decision makers and IT professionals from various Middle East companies representing a wide range of backgrounds and industries.
Security Advisor Middle East highlighted the necessity to keep security decision-makers ahead of the evolving threats and challenges to their businesses and included a number of topics such as information security, physical security, business continuity and advanced persistent threats aiming to create safer and more profitable enterprises.
The award, being the seventh won by Gulf Air during 2016, was accepted by Jassim Haji, Gulf Air director information technology, on behalf of the airline and commented: “With ever-changing threat landscape and new breed of attacks, organizations of all industries are encouraged to enhance their security capabilities to ensure smooth operations and continuity of the business during any risks. We are happy to receive this award of best IT project of the year for private sector companies as we continue to explore different areas to enhance the way we operate as an airline.”
In 2015, Gulf Air became the first airline in the world to be certified with Information Technology ISO certifications in the five areas of quality management, environmental management, service management, information security management and energy management systems. The airline also won Computer News Middle East’s CIO 100 Awards for the fourth consecutive year, becoming the first organization and first airline in the Middle East to do so.
