Cairo - MENA

Egypt's Ambassador in Moscow Mohamed el-Badry asserted that security measures at an Egyptian airport prevented a hijacker from penetrating with any explosive materials and firearms into a domestic flight that was forced to veer off course on Tuesday to fly to Cyprus.

In an interview with a Russian TV channel, el-Badry said his contacts with Russian officials after the incident asserted that necessity of continuing talks to resume tourist flights from Russia to Egypt.

"This was an isolated incident," he was quoted by a Foreign Ministry statement as saying.
